Paramedic
Duties and Responsibilities:EMTs and paramedics typically do the following: Respond to 911 calls for emergency medical assistance, such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) or bandaging a wound. Assess a patient's condition and determine a course of treatment. Provide first-aid treatment or life support care to sick or injured patients.
Salary: Median pay (annual): 31,020 USD (2012)
Median pay (hourly): 14.91 USD (2012)
Education: Entry level education: Postsecondary non-degree award
Demand: EMTs and Paramedics. Employment of emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and paramedics is projected to grow 24 percent from 2014 to 2024, much faster than the average for all occupations. This increase, in turn, will create greater demand for EMT and paramedic services.
