happy-st-patricks-day.gifSt. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, is one of Christianity’s most widely known figures.  St. Patrick converted the Irish to Christianity, but there's more to know about Ireland's patron saint - like the fact that he wasn't Irish. The Origins of St. Patrick’s Day, the purpose of it is to celebrate the Roman Catholic feast day of the patron saint of Ireland St. Patrick died on March 17, 461. The official color of the St. Patrick’s Day was blue, but green began to dominate based on Ireland being known as “The Emerald Isle”, as well as the fact that the flag of Ireland also contains a stripe of green. It is celebrated on March 17 because that’s when Saint Patrick died.
